Funeral Celebrant
I am a qualified funeral celebrant offering civil ceremonies across Southern Scotland and Northern England. If you are looking for someone to deliver a bespoke funeral for a cremation or burial, I would be honoured to offer my services in saying farewell to your loved one.
As a civil celebrant I co-design ceremonies around what the deceased and family want. This can include religious (of any faith) and non religious content and symbols.
I will spend time with the family member(s) who are organising the funeral so I can get to know you and the person who has died, include any readings, music or poems your person loved, and research more widely if needed to find the perfect content. I will communicate closely with the Funeral Director to ensure all the details are carried seamlessly across into the overall funeral arrangements and deliver the ceremony with dignity and care according to what we have agreed that will best honour your departed person.
I will work with you to make a truly special funeral ceremony, created to capture the essence of your person and tell the story of their life.
I offer a full text of the ceremony to keep afterwards.

What I Bring to Your Ceremony
Whilst the ceremony we co-design is all about the departed and their nearest and dearest, here’s a bit about my background and the skills and experiences which will ensure a memorable and dignified ceremony.
My career background is in theatre and the arts, as a producer, writer, director, performer, so I bring many skills from decades of production, in diverse locations. So whatever your wishes for your loved one’s ceremony, I can help realise them.
I love stories and one of the things I find inspiring about celebrancy is discovering the narrative of a person’s life that can be told in a moving tribute. It’s a privilege to work with families to find the details and colour that bring memories to life with joy and laughter, as part of the grieving journey, and really capture the personality of the departed.
I am passionate about helping people find their way through the difficult time after the death of a loved one, to the ceremony when they say a final goodbye, and to have memories of that leave-taking which will help them in the days and weeks to follow.
My values deeply embrace land, nature and environment and I especially love designing ceremonies for people who have shared those values in their lifetime.
For a more detailed story, see my About page.
I also offer ritual and ceremony design and delivery for other thresholds in life – for example retirement, divorce, moving home etc. These can take place anywhere – at your home or garden, in a special landscape or park or a public building such as a community centre or sports club.
Over my career I have produced events in many settings so I love to think creatively, help you come up with a vision for your rite of passage and deliver it with flair and care.
