About Me

I was born and brought up in the South of England, worked for a few years in London, then moved to Yorkshire with my family, where I lived for 30 years. I moved to Dumfries & Galloway in 2021. I have two adult sons, two dogs and two cats.

Having graduated from the University of Warwick in English and Theatre Studies, my career was in theatre and the arts, starting in stage management and going on to various leadership roles, including the Creative Director of Imove, a £4m northern programme of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad. This produced 32 arts projects across Yorkshire & The Humber in locations including beaches, disused mills, festivals, city squares, theatres, community centres, nightclubs, moorlands, churches and swimming pools! After 2012 we went on to create a further seven performance projects –  see Projects section.

I am a Fellow of the Clore Cultural Leadership Programme and have worked as a consultant and trainer in organisational and board development and strategy.

I’m also a writer and have performed my poetry across northern England and Southern Scotland; and had short stories published in anthologies and magazines.

Since moving to Scotland I have worked as a Producer with several performance companies including Independent Arts Projects, Stellar Quines and Shaper/Caper.

I have served as a Trustee with a number of arts charities and am currently Chair of the Board of Trustees of The Stove Network in Dumfries which does brilliant, dynamic work connecting place, community and creativity.

In 2025 I decided to redirect my career into becoming  a funeral celebrant. This blends my wider interest in ceremony, ritual, stories and life cycles, with my skillset as a writer and producer.
